Square Nail is a first-generation small family fruit orchard and cidery. We farm approximately 25 acre, producing 23 varieties of apples, 18 varieties of peaches, 3 varieties of plums, pumpkins and fresh cider in the fall, and more. Our cider is fresh pressed, unpasteurized, and available in 1/2 gallons, gallons, and larger quantities for home brewers. We have also recently started fermenting aged apple cider vinegar and have added hives to the farm so we can offer local honey.
We are participants in a low/reduced spray program reducing the amount of applied chemistry by 40% in comparison to store fruit. This reduced spray program is achieved through an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program sponsored by Michigan State University which offers in season pest management information based on real-time field studies.
