This was Grandma's favorite apple. It is good for those that like a tart fresh eating apple but for Grandma the apple's claim to fame was apple pie and apple sauce. The Ida Red apple is also a great keeper and she would have them fresh through Christmas.
A great all around apple; good for eating, baking and keeping. This apple is sweet and juicy with just a little tart. While this is typically one of the last apples picked on the farm each year the odd summer and fall weather has us picking Jonagolds earlier than we ever have before.
An old time favorite with a great aroma and white clear flesh. If you make your apple sauce out of MacIntosh the whole house will smell like Fall.
